Property Tax Exemption for Student Housing Repealed

The JFC just approved a motion to repeal a property tax exemption for student housing. Assembly Co-chair Robin Vos said it was an earmark approved in the last budget.

The exemption was for a) facilities owned by nonprofits; b) facilities that house no more than 300 where at least 90 percent of the residents are students enrolled at UW-Madison; and c) facilities that offer support services and outreach programs to its residents, the public or private institution of higher education at which the student residents are enrolled.

Wisconsin Nonprofits: Coping with Economic Crisis Survey Report

In May 2009, WNA was a part of a group gathered and lead by Forward Community Investments to create, distribute and analyze information from Wisconsin Nonprofits and how they are Coping with Economic Crisis.  The report contains the results of a survey of nonprofits from all over the state of Wisconsin, diverse in geographic location, staffing size, budget, and mission. The commonality is that all these nonprofits are providing important services and strengthening the livelihood in our statewide communities.
