This workshop is #2 of 6 in the Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Series from UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education. Register for some or all of the workshops.

Nonprofit Strategic Planning

The session is a practical and usable introduction to the key concepts and techniques of strategic planning and how to apply them to your nonprofit. You will leave with a clear understanding of what nonprofits can gain from strategic planning. The session will feature extensive handouts including planning forms, worksheets, and examples of strategic planning documents. You will walk through some of the processes of strategic planning and learn how to design an effective planning process that fits your organization’s needs, results in a flexible and achievable road map for your nonprofit, and leads to increased mission impact.

Topics include:

  • The nature and role of strategic planning and how to apply the concepts and practices to nonprofit organizations
  • Making sure that your strategic planning is really “strategic”
  • Techniques for plan formulation, implementation, and assessment
  • Preparing your organization for planning
  • When, where, why, and how your board and staff should be involved
  • Moving from strategic planning to the implementation process

Presenter
FRANK MARTINELLI is a nationally known consultant, author and trainer with over 35 years of experience working with a variety of nonprofit and public sector organizations. He is president of the Center for Public Skills Training where he specializes in strategic planning, governing board development, volunteer management, and community partnership and alliance building.

It is possible to register for the full series online but will require you to register for each workshop individually and will take a little more time.

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your registration up to 5 business days before a program’s start date, and we will refund your payment less a $25 administrative fee per workshop. If you cancel fewer than 5 business days prior to the program start date, no refund will be given. You may substitute another person for your registration at any time. Call the Continuing Education Office (715-836-3636/toll free 866-893-2423) for assistance. University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient enrollment or other administrative reasons, as well as the right to limit enrollment to ensure quality. In the event of a UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education cancellation, a full refund will be issued. Our liability is limited to the refund of the program fee.
