2009 Advocacy Camp

03/17/2009 - 12:14am
03/18/2009 - 12:14am

This interactive, hands-on, no-one-hiding-in-the-corner advocacy training includes numerous simulations, role-plays, small group work and presentations by guest experts. You'll connect with peers from around the state, have lots of time for networking, learn valuable skills, have time for questions and discussion, and leave with new confidence as well as  tips and connections to enhance your advocacy efforts.

The day and a half training covers the following:

  • An overview of the Wisconsin legislative and budget processes;
  • How to plan & implement a successful advocacy campaign on your issue(s);
  • Tips for building & sustaining strong grassroots coalitions;
  • How to get (and hold!) the attention of the media;
  • How to effectively communicate with & educate local and state policymakers on critical issues impacting kids & families like childcare, health care, housing, jobs, education & training and more.
  • Your trainers for this fun "camp" are experienced Wisconsin Council on Children & Families staff members, with guest media and legislative experts. Advocacy Camp graduates have the training they need to be leaders on the critical issues facing Wisconsin's kids and families!

    NEW this year! Put the skills you hone at Advocacy Camp to work right away by sticking around on the afternoon of March 18th to join WCCF's "Advocacy Day in the Capitol!"
